One thing I’m grateful for is that my family introduced me to the love of travel and exploring different cities, which lead to exploring different countries and cultures. Growing up, my family went on vacation to visit different sates at least twice a year. We visited Florida in the winters and Vermont in the summers. We visited the local restaurants, local little boutique shops, and exploring the outdoors in those places. I grew up loving to swim in the ocean and going for hikes in the mountains.
As I got older, I started visiting different countries. The first country I visited on my own was France. I spent a week in Paris exploring the city, visiting the Louvre and taking the train to Versailles. I loved every moment of it. I woke up each morning and went to the same bakery each day for a croissant and would spend a few moment chatting with the baker, next I’d visit a different cafe each morning for an espresso and take some time to read my book before heading out for the day to wander the streets of Paris and discover other special places the cities held. I asked locals for recommendations on restaurants, favorite shops and hidden gems. No travel books for me! After this trip, the love for travel was instilled!
To date, I’ve been to 12 different countries, 26 US states and I don’t have a particular favorite. Each place is unique in its own way and with its own story to tell. I’m excited to share this love of travel and getting to know the world through the eyes of my child. I look forward to seeing their mind light up as they try new foods, hear new languages and see ancient cities. I can’t wait to see as how they dance as the hear music from different cultures and see their minds fill with wonder as they meet people who share their unique cultures, visit treasured ruins and explore and go on adventures in the outdoors of different places.
